Overview of Flickr for AppleTV

Flickr members can access their accounts, browse photos, and display their profiles on a TV using the Flickr app on an AppleTV. 

Sign in to your account

  1. Download the Flickr app from the AppleTV App Store.
  2. Go to the Your Flickr page in the app.
  3. A 6-digit code will appear. Do not navigate away from this page.
  4. Sign in to your Flickr account at www.flickr.com/appletv from a computer or mobile device.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code from your AppleTV.
  6. Select Submit.

Note: The 6-digit code is only valid for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, a new code appears. If you haven't connected to your Flickr account within 10 minutes, you'll need to enter the new 6-digit code at www.flickr.com/appletv.
 

Having trouble signing in to Flickr on your AppleTV? Use the tips below. 

  • DO NOT navigate away from the page displaying the code on your AppleTV.
  • The AppleTV screen will display your Flickr profile when successfully signed in.
  • An error will appear asking you to re-enter the code if it was mistyped. Wait up to 1 minute for your AppleTV to verify the code. If the Apple TV is still showing the code after 1 minute, try re-entering the code on www.flickr.com/appletv.
  • Check your Apple TV network connection.

Exploring the Flickr App on AppleTV

View your own photos
  1. Visit the "Your Flickr" page to view your profile.
  2. Select the Photos icon.
  3. Press your remote's center button.

Toggle through all your photos or just public ones with the View Public and View All buttons.

View a user’s profile
  1. Scroll to a thumbnail image.
  2. Press and hold your remote's center button for 2 seconds.

View a photo's details
  1. When you see a photo that you like, open the photo in full screen.
  2. Press your remote's down key to see the photo's title, description, and comments.

Search for photos and profiles

 Search lets you find interesting people, photos, or groups. Start typing in your search and we'll automatically suggest relevant topics for you to browse or create slideshows and screensavers from.

Fave a photo
  1. When you see a photo that you like, open the photo in full screen.
  2. Select your remote's down key to see the photo title, Faves, and comments carousel.
  3. Select your remote's center button to fave a photo or un-fave an existing fave.

To see your faves, just visit the "Your Flickr" page and select Favorites.

Notes:

  • Due to Apple limitations, it is no longer possible to set a Flickr slideshow as a screensaver for AppleTV.
  • As this is a third-party application, Flickr support is limited in the troubleshooting support we can provide for this app.
