When you capture the moment, capture your location too. Adding a photo's location helps you keep track of your adventures and you just might inspire someone else's travels!
Geo Preferences
When you upload a photo with geodata (i.e. from a mobile device), or manually geotag your photo, the photo's location can be shown on a map. You can adjust your geo privacy settings depending on who you want to see the location of your photos by default.
In order for your uploads to automatically appear on the map, you will need to make sure you have the following settings applied:
- EXIF Privacy Settings - uncheck yes.
- EXIF location importing - turned on.
- Geo Preferences - set to anything but ‘Only you’.
Note: If you upload a photo with geodata, that information will be embedded into the EXIF data of the original image file.
If you don’t want people to have access to this information, you can turn off the location on your camera/ device. Or, hide the EXIF data & restrict who can download your originals.
How to set your Geo Preferences
- Head to your account settings.
- Click on Privacy & Permissions.
- Under Defaults for new uploads you will see the following settings:
‘Who will be able to see your stuff on a map’ | Click Edit.
From here, you can determine who sees your photos on your map and set up geofences.
What is a Geofence?
A geofence is a hotspot on a map that has special default geo privacy settings. These are useful for locations such as "home" or "school" that you would like to make more private than your global default. You can create up to 10 geofences.
