Flickr group discussions

Engage with the Flickr community by joining discussions or starting your own. It’s a great way to connect with like-minded photographers, exchange ideas, and share images. 

Post a new topic

  1. Go to the group’s Overview page.
  2. Select the Discussions tab | Select Start a Discussion.
  3. Enter a title and your message.
  4. Select Start Topic.
  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. Tap Groups | choose the group.
  3. Tap Discussions | tap Start a discussion
  4. Enter a title and your message.
  5. Tap Post.

Reply to a topic

  1. Open the discussion.
  2. Enter your reply in the comment box at the bottom.
  3. Select Post Reply.
  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. Tap Groups | choose the group.
  3. Tap Discussions | choose the discussion.
  4. Tap Add to discussion and type your message. 
  5. Tap the Send icon.

Add an inline image to your post

Your own image

  1. Hover over You | Photostream.
  2. Select the image you want to share.
  3. On the photo page, select Share | Embed.
  4. Select a size and copy the code.
  5. Paste the code into your discussion reply.
  6. Select Preview to review, then Post.
     

Another member’s image 

  1. Go to the Photo Page of the image.
  2. Select Share | Embed.
  3. Select a size and copy the code.
  4. Paste it into your discussion reply.
  5. Select Preview, then Post.
     

Notes:

  • You can also place a photo’s Share link between square brackets [ ] on the web to display it inline.
  • If embedding isn’t available for the photo, select Share | copy the link and paste the link into your post instead.
  • Always credit the creator when posting another member’s image.

Your own image

  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. Tap Groups | choose the group.
  3. Tap Discussions | choose the discussion.
  4. Tap Add to discussion and type your message. 
  5. Tap the Photos icon next to the text box | select the photo you wish to add.
  6. Tap Add.
  7. Tap the Send icon.

Edit or delete a discussion comment

  1. Locate the comment or reply you want to edit.
  2. Hover over the comment and select the Edit icon (pencil) to make changes, or the Delete icon (trash can) to remove it.
  3. If editing, make the desired changes and select Preview to review, or Post Reply to save them. The comment date will show the last date it was edited.
  4. If deleting, confirm by selecting Delete in the pop-up.
  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. Tap Groups | Choose the group containing the discussion.
  3. Open the discussion and locate your comment or reply.
  4. Tap the More icon (…), then choose Edit to make changes or Delete to remove the comment.
  5. Save your changes or confirm deletion as needed.

Notes:

  • You can only edit your own comments/replies.
  • Topic posts (the first post in a discussion) can only be edited/deleted by a group admin.
  • Group admins can edit or delete a member’s comments/replies.
  • If the edit icon isn’t visible, the discussion may be locked, or the comment may not be eligible for editing.

Admin & moderator options (web only)

Set a topic as sticky to keep it at the top of the Discussions list

  1. Hover over the first topic comment.
  2. Select the Star icon. 
    (Solid = sticky; select again to unstick.)

Close a topic

  1. Hover over the first topic comment. 
  2. Select the Lock icon. 
    (Closed = no new replies.)

Edit/ delete topics or other members’ comments

Admins can edit or delete any topic, comment or reply.
