Appearing on search engines

When you change your Flickr privacy settings, or delete your account, it can take time for your content to appear or disappear from search engine results.

What is indexing?

Indexing is how search engines collect and store information about web pages so they can show it in search results. When your content changes or is removed, search engines need to update their index before those changes are reflected in search results.

What to expect

Search engines re-index content on their own schedules. Once they re-index, your updated Flickr content will eventually appear or drop out of their search results.

Note: This process is entirely managed by the search engine and falls outside Flickr’s control. The process may take a while and can vary by search engine.

Request removal from a search engine

Some search engines allow you to request removal directly:

  • Google
  • Bing (also covers Yahoo and DuckDuckGo, which use Bing’s index)
