Search Flickr to find photos, people, or groups

Use Flickr’s search to discover high-quality photos, connect with members, or find groups that match your interests. You can search on the web or in the Flickr app, and apply advanced filters to refine your results.

How to search in Flickr

  1. Enter your search terms into the Search bar at the top of any Flickr page.
  2. Select Enter on your keyboard.
  3. Choose between the different search results for: Photos, People, Groups.

  2. Enter your search terms | select the Magnifying Glass.
  3. Choose between the different search results for: Photos, People, Groups and Discussions.

Note: Your photos and photos from people you follow will be displayed separately from everyone’s photos.

Advanced search filters

From the basic search results, select Advanced.
  1. After the results load, tap the Advanced Search icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select the relevant filter and change as needed | tap Apply.
  3. To remove filters, open the Advanced Search menu again, deselect the relevant check boxes, or tap Clear.

You can filter by:

  • Color: Limit results to specific colors
  • Photo style: B&W, shallow depth of field, minimalist, patterns.
  • Orientation: Portrait, landscape, square, and panorama.
  • Minimum size (web only): Only show images larger than a certain size.
  • Date: Filter by when photos were taken or uploaded.
  • Content type: Photos, videos, screenshots, illustration/art, or virtual photography, or any combination.
  • Search in: Limit the search by only tags or include the description and title.
  • License: Show specific Creative Commons or other licensed content.
  • SafeSearch: Enable or disable SafeSearch.
  • Sort by: Relevant, date uploaded, date taken, or interestingness.

Note: Search results update instantly as you apply or remove filters.

Search within specific areas of Flickr (web only)

Groups

  1. Hover over You | select Groups.
  2. Select the group you want to search in.
  3. Select Photos.
  4. Select the Search icon.
  5. Enter your search terms | Select Enter on your keyboard.

Photostream

  1. Hover over You | select Photostream.
  2. Select the Search icon.
  3. Enter your search terms | Select Enter on your keyboard.

Albums

  1. Hover over You | select Albums.
  2. Select the Search icon.
  3. Type the album’s name | Select Enter on your keyboard.
