Once you have created your Flickr account, you can upload your photos and videos from your desktop or the Flickr app.
From a Desktop Web Browser you can upload to Flickr from any page:
- Click the Upload icon.
- Click Choose Photos and Videos.
- Select your items | click Open.
- Add or edit title, description, tags, people, albums, or groups.
- Confirm owner settings - license, privacy, content filters.
- Click Upload.
You can find the upload icon on any page when logged into your account.
Note: When uploading videos, video playback is constrained to the first 3 minutes for Free members, and 10 minutes for Pro members.
From the iOS app:
- Open the app | tap on the + icon.
- Select the photos/videos to upload from your camera's gallery by tapping the thumbnails (or, tap the Camera icon to take a new photo). Note: Selected items will be highlighted in blue.
- Once all items have been selected | tap Next.
- Make any desired edits using the editor (optional).
- Tap the Arrow icon in the top right corner.
- Add details to your photo: title, description, location, set privacy level, etc.
- Tap Upload.
From the Android app:
- Open the app | click on the Camera icon.
- Tap the image in the bottom left of the screen. This will take you to your Albums.
- Find the photos/videos you want to upload, tap on each one | tap Done.
- Add details to your photo: title, description, location, set privacy level, etc.
- Tap Upload.

How to Automatically Back-up Photos to Flickr (Pro Only)
Flickr Pro members have unlimited storage. You can safely and securely back-up your content from your desktop, or the Flickr mobile app.
- Desktop app - Download the Mac or Windows Uploadr and select which folders you want to back-up.
- Mobile app - Download the Android or iOS Flickr app and turn Auto-Uploadr on.
Your photos will be uploaded privately, only you can see them unless you change the privacy setting.
Running into Issues Uploading Your Content?
Note: Effective May 1, 2022, free accounts are subject to a 1,000 item upload limit (with a limit of 50 non-public photos or videos) & are limited to uploading only Safe content.
To upload unlimited content, regardless of privacy settings & safety levels, upgrade to Pro. (For more information on the changes, please visit our blog post.)

- Receiving an error that your photos are invalid - The file might not be supported. Try opening the file in an image editing app and re-saving the file in a different format.
- Restricted videos are not permitted for upload. If your account is set to restricted you won't be able to upload any new videos regardless of safety level until you have moderated your content and your account is set to safe.
