We know the new app hasn't met the bar you expect from Flickr. Since launch, we've heard your feedback about bugs, missing features, and rough edges, and we want to acknowledge that directly. Here is where we currently stand:

iOS: We're in the process of rolling back the iOS app to the previous version while we address these issues. You should see this reflected in the App Store shortly.

Android: The Android app will remain on the updated version. Due to technical limitations and the risks involved in reverting, a rollback isn't possible on this platform. Instead, expect frequent updates as we fix bugs and restore preexisting features.

Across both platforms, this app refresh represents a significant, long-term investment in the Flickr app. The app was long overdue for an update and getting it right matters to us. Thank you for your patience, and for continuing to share what's missing and not working. It's shaping exactly what we address next.

The new Flickr app is now available to 100% of members on both iOS and Android.

Find your Current App Version

1. On the Flickr App homepage, tap the account icon in the bottom-right corner. 
2. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of your account page. 
3. Tap Settings, then About. 
4. Scroll to the bottom of the About page--your current app version is listed there.

FAQ

Can I revert to the old App? 

Once the app has been updated, previous versions are no longer available. The new app will continue to receive updates and improvements over time. 

What are the limits for Free accounts?  

Free accounts are not allowed to:

• Post content with Moderate or Restricted Safety Levels. Free accounts are limited to posting Safe content only.
• Post Commercial content. Only our Pro members are permitted to engage in commercial activity.
• Store more than 50 Non-Public photos or videos. N​on-Public consists of Private & Friends and Family photos.
• Upload over 1,000 items.

Free account limits apply to all content on Flickr regardless of Privacy Setting. This includes posts marked as Friends and/or Family and Private. Content that exceeds these limits is at risk of suspension or deletion.

Want more flexibility? Upgrade to Pro to post Moderate, Restricted or Commercial content, and for unlimited storage, ad-free browsing, and advanced stats.

What happens if my account violates these limits?

If your account contains content that exceeds the Free account limits:

• Your account may be temporarily suspended.
• You’ll receive a notice via email and FlickrMail from our Trust & Safety team.

We may terminate the accounts of members who repeatedly violate Flickr’s guidelines or refuse to address non-compliant content. 

How can I bring my account into compliance?

To restore your account, you can:

1. Upgrade to Pro

• Continue using Flickr without limits.
• Upload Moderate or Restricted content.
• Post more than 1,000 items.
• Use your account for commercial activity.

Upgrading to Pro will automatically remove the suspensions for Moderate, Restricted or Commercial Content from your account.

 

2. Remove non-compliant content

Once non-compliant content has been removed, contact Trust & Safety to request review.

Received a suspension or warning email in error?

If you believe your account is in compliance and you’ve received a suspension or warning email in error, please contact us to confirm your account’s standing.

What happens if I do nothing?

If your account is suspended for violations of Free Account Limits, it will not be restored unless you upgrade to Pro or remove non-compliant content. In addition, further restrictions may be placed on your account, and non-compliant content or your account itself may be deleted.

While we’d be sad to see you leave our Flickr community, we provide a couple of ways for you to delete your Flickr account depending on what device you are using.
 

Notes: 

• Once you delete your account, all of your photos and account content will be deleted, and we won't be able to recover them.
• Public images from deleted accounts may still appear in third-party search engines, like Google. Learn more about search engine indexes.

Can't log in to your Flickr account?

If you are unable to log in to your Flickr account in order to delete it, please follow our guide below to go through our account verification process.

If you've lost access to your Flickr account, we can help you regain access through identity verification. For security purposes, we can only accept approved verification methods. If you're unable to verify, we may not be able to restore access.

Flickr uses multiple security layers to protect our community including proactive pattern detection, real-time risk scoring, targeted investigations, and prompt review of every abuse report we receive. However, some scammers still manage to reach members through various platform features. 

This article will help you recognize & avoid phishing attempts on Flickr.

If you receive a suspicious message about your Flickr account: 

• Don’t reply, click any links, or provide information. 
• Report it to us immediately by contacting Flickr Support. 

What are phishing scams?

Phishing is a type of online scam that targets people by sending them a message that appears to be from a well-known source, asking them to provide personal identifying information or payment information.

How are phishing scams appearing  on Flickr?

Scammers send phishing messages via FlickrMail or post comments that: 

• Claim to be from an official source, including Flickr’s Support, Trust & Safety, or official Flickr teams. 
• Use urgent or threatening language. 
• Pressure you to click a link to verify your account or update your payment information.

How to Recognize & Avoid Phishing Scams on Flickr 

Flickr will never ask for your password, payment details, or other personal information via FlickrMail or comments. 

How to protect yourself: 

• Check the sender.
  • Official Flickr messages don't come from regular user accounts.
  • If you can click through to a profile page or reply via FlickrMail, it's not from Flickr.
• Check for typos, incorrect syntax or unusual spellings in messages.
• Don’t open suspicious links or attachments.
  • Never click or visit links or download attachments in unexpected messages.
  • Website names can be spoofed: just because a link includes a reputable name (like Flickr), it doesn’t mean it’s always safe. 
• Never share sensitive information.
  • Don't provide passwords, payment details, or visit off-platform websites to "verify" your account.
• Watch for urgent threats.
  • Phishing messages use a sense of urgency to bypass your judgment.
  • Trust your gut and don’t immediately comply or respond to unusual or unreasonable requests. If you have any doubt, step back and re-evaluate, and Contact Flickr Support for help. 
• Use a strong, unique password for your Flickr account.

Again, if you receive a message or comment about your Flickr account that concerns you, please get in touch with us directly as soon as possible. We will promptly review the matter and take swift action if applicable.

If your account is determined to contain posts that violate our Terms & Conditions of Use or Community Guidelines, your account may be temporarily placed into a suspended state. In that case, you will receive a notification with more details from Flickr’s Trust & Safety team in your email and FlickrMail account.

What happens to my account when it is suspended?

• Your content will be viewable only to you as the logged-in account owner. Other members will not be able to see your photos. While your profile will still be searchable, your photos will be hidden from public view.
• Your comments will not be displayed.
• You will not be able to add new photos to groups. Group admins will not be able to see your photo submission.
• You will still be able to upload Safe content, comment, fave, and send or receive FlickrMail.
• Any existing group photos will be hidden from public view.
• Other members will not receive notifications of your activity.
