The Flickr photo page offers key information about each photo & video, including stats, EXIF data, and commenting options. Below is a breakdown of each section of the page to help you understand its features and how to interact with them.
Member Information and EXIF Data
This section of the photo page offers a lot of valuable details, from technical camera settings to engagement options. Understanding these features allows you to connect with both the photographer and the content on a deeper level.
1. Member Information, Photo Title & Description
- Username: Displays the uploader's name. This identifies the member who shared the content.
- Profile Icon: The circular icon is the member’s Profile Photo. Selecting it will take you to their Flickr profile.
- Pro Badge: The "Pro" badge next to the username shows this member has a Flickr Pro account, offering features like advanced statistics and ad-free browsing.
- Photo Title: This can be filled in manually by the member. It might also be automatically set as the filename, or remain blank.
- Description: You have the option to include a description. This space allows you to provide context or additional details about the content.
2. Photo Details
- Views: The number of times the item has been viewed.
- Favorites: Shows how many Flickr members have favorited the item.
- Comments: The number of comments the item has received.
3. Photo Upload Information
- Uploaded on: This shows when the item was uploaded to Flickr.
- Taken on: The photo’s original capture date is listed below the upload date. You can edit this by selecting the date and adding the updated information. Note: This will be the same as the Upload Date for videos.
- Licensing Information: Indicates how the photo is licensed. You can choose different licensing options in the dropdown. For more information see: Change Your Photo's License in Flickr.
4. Comments
- Comment Box: To comment on the content, type in the box that reads "Add a comment about this photo" and select "Add comment." This is a simple way to engage with the content. For more information, please see: Add, edit, or delete comments and notes on Flickr.
- Emojis: The Smiley Face icon next to the comment box allows you to include emojis in your comments, adding a fun and expressive element to your interactions.
5. Camera & EXIF data
- Camera Model: Selecting the camera model will take you to the Camera Finder.

- Show EXIF: The "Show EXIF" link provides additional details about the camera settings and technical information for photography enthusiasts.
6. Location information
- Map & Location: The map displays where the photo was taken. The map allows others to explore the geographical location where the image was captured. Groups, Albums and Additional Information
By understanding how to use these options, you can better organize your content, control who sees it, and manage interaction from the Flickr community.
1. Groups
- Group Membership: This section shows whether the item is part of any Flickr groups. If it’s not, you’ll see a message like, "This photo is currently not in any groups." For more information, see: Find and join a Flickr group.
- Add to Group: Select "Add to group" to share your content with one or more Flickr groups. Groups are a great way to connect with members who share similar interests or themes. For more information see: Add or remove photos in Flickr groups.
2. Albums
- Album Information: This section shows if the item is included in any albums in your account. Keep your Flickr photos and videos organized.
- Add to Album: To organize your content, select "Add to album." Albums help group your content in meaningful ways, whether by event, subject, or date. For more information see: Add or remove content from an album.
3. Tags
- Tags: Tags help describe the subject matter/ themes of your content and improve its visibility in Flickr’s search results.
- Add Tags: Select "Add tags" to label your content with relevant keywords, making it easier for others to find. For more information, see: Adding tags to your Flickr content.
4. People
- People in Photo: This section lets you tag Flickr member’s who appear in the content.
- Add People: Select "Add people" to tag other Flickr members. This feature allows you to connect with friends, family, or other contacts. For more information, see: Add people to your Flickr content.
5. Additional info
This section provides key options to control privacy, content settings, and licensing for your content. You can also change both Global Settings and Defaults for new uploads here.

License History: Select "License History" to view or change the licensing settings of your photo. Licensing gives you control of how others can use your photo.
- Viewing Privacy: This controls who can see your content. For more information, see Change your Privacy Setting.
- Allow Commenting: This setting determines who can comment on your content. (Note: If you add your content to a group and have commenting disabled fellow group members will still be able to comment on the item added to the group.)
- Allow Tags, Notes, and People Tags: Control who can add tags, notes, or tag people in your content. You can adjust it to fit your preferences, such as limiting it to "Friends & Family."
- Set Safety Levels: Safety levels let other members know that your content might contain nudity, sexual themes, or graphic imagery that some have chosen not to see. - Set Content Type: Define the type of content, such as a "Photo" or other media types like "Illustration" or "Video."
